Why Screen ProTech Uses Film (Not Tempered Glass)
Our film is proprietary to Screen ProTech. We spent years—and four product iterations—engineering a film perfectly tuned for automotive screens: high optical clarity, accurate touch, balanced anti-glare, strong scratch resistance, and safe serviceability.
If you care about how your infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster look and feel every day, film wins. Our precision-cut, automotive-grade film delivers an OEM-clean appearance, conforms to flat and curved displays, and preserves buttery-smooth touch accuracy. It reduces glare and fingerprints, resists scratches and scuffs, and stands up to heat, cold, UV, and cabin vibration better than tempered glass.
Film allows us to offer products that complement surrounding surfaces—dash pieces, center consoles, and more.
Restores the Look of Worn Screens
Installed over light cosmetic damage—micro-scratches, swirl marks, or haze—Screen ProTech film can optically mask defects so your infotainment and driver displays look clear and uniform again. Tempered glass cannot do this and may even magnify existing blemishes or create halo edges.
Safe Removal — No Screen Damage
When it’s time to service or replace, Screen ProTech film warm-releases with controlled, low heat and peels away cleanly—no residue, no prying, and no risk to factory anti-reflective coatings or sensors. Tempered glass is notorious for cracking on removal, lifting at the edges, and can pull coatings on automotive and wireless screens.
Quick Comparison
| Aspect | Film (Screen ProTech) | Tempered Glass |
|---|---|---|
| Fit & Finish | Hugs complex curves for a seamless OEM look | Sits thick; can halo or collect dust at edges |
| Touch & Clarity | Keeps touch latency low; tames glare; natural feel | Can add reflections; “plate of glass” feel |
| Durability in Vehicles | Tolerates temperature swings and vibration | Can chip or spider-crack from heat/cold & vibration |
| Safety & Serviceability | Won’t shatter; low-heat removal is clean | Can fragment; removal can rip coatings or leave residue |
| Installation Flexibility | Can be lifted and re-positioned during install for a perfect fit | One-and-done: if you miss, it cannot be re-installed |

Overview
We choose premium film over tempered glass because it performs better in real cars. Film conforms edge-to-edge on curved infotainment and driver displays, keeps touch silky and accurate, reduces glare, and looks like it came from the factory. It can even improve the appearance of lightly worn screens by optically masking fine blemishes. Just as important, Screen ProTech film removes safely: with controlled, low heat, it peels off without harming the display or anti-reflective coatings. Tempered glass, by contrast, is notorious for cracking and damaging coatings during removal. For a clean OEM look, everyday clarity, and worry-free serviceability, film is the smarter long-term solution.
*Appearance restoration refers to visual masking of light surface blemishes only; deep gouges or substrate damage will still be visible. For best results, follow Screen ProTech install/removal instructions and use controlled, low heat around bezel areas.*
